New Year Drama

Well it didn’t take long! Technically the drama all kicked off on Hogmanay, so it is the last of 2024’s drama… but the main impact is felt this side of the bells!

So what happened then?

Well - we had a LOT of rain come down in the run up to the end of December which resulted in a flash flood down the River Coitie that was so ferocious that is undercut the high bank taking out quite a substantial amount of established woodland and pushing the edge of the bank back a good 5 meters almost to the roadside. This has destabailised the road itself making it too dangerous to use.

For the moment we have a work around, there is a farm track that cuts off on a hairpin and joins on to a driveway that pops us out past the worst of the fall - but it is not a proper road, and the exit point is still into an unstable zone, albeit less unstable than the main stretch that is being bypassed.

So now we are waiting to see what happens about getting everything shored up and re-instated.
