Now for the Recovery

So this month has featured a lot… I mean A LOT… of me reeling from the major blow and sudden loss of work as a result of AI systems. The end of last week and through this week has been something of a different tack as I have gathered myself and come back fighting. Infact… if everything falls into place… I think I am going to come back stronger, particularly as I will be spreading the focus slightly wider to insulate myself from future shocks. This is just the first step to proper recovery really - the next phase is to start exploring other opportunities in commercial photography and videography as well as building the art side of the business which is still in a rather neglected and embyronic state!

So the wins then:

I have extended the package being offered by one agent to their clients which will hopefully bring in more, higher paying, work - it’s a very video orientated package that they have gone for and I still hope to win business for interior and exterior traditional stills with them in the future.

I have introduced a basic stills package to another existing client which offers a cheaper option than a full shoot and will hopefully win additional business from the properties that they shoot inhouse at present. They are quick jobs as the scope is much more limited, as are the deliverables, but it raises the quality of their advertising which should, hopefully, win them more business and that wins me more business! The first job was done this week on that basis so hopefully this will offer some growth potential.

I have taken on a new client with a full photography/aerial photography/video package which is in an adjacent region. They are a smaller, more personal, company so I am not expecting huge volumes at this stage, but by contracting out their imaging it frees them up for their core activities which will hopefully (along with higher quality marketing materials than anyone else in the region) elevate them to win more business… and in turn win me more business!

So it’s been a good week. On that back of all this I have been reworking my financial forecasts and aims for the first quarter of next year… and whilst it is still down a good way, it isn’t as much of a setback as it looked a few days ago which was almost back to ground zero!

Not much work this week though, so… again… the gallery of work is a bit slim!
