schools out for… tattie fortnight
Not quite Schools out for Summer… but never mind!
What has happened this week then? We had the storm roll in over last weekend that caused all sorts of chaos up here in the Highlands, both in work terms (power out, roads blocked and general strife) but I still managed a pretty reasonable week on the run up to the schools finishing on Friday. Next week is currently looking pretty quiet, as expected with the kids off, and I am away the week after anyway - well - off from the day job, but off being assessed to see if I can get qualified.
I was feeling pretty confident a few weeks ago, but as we get closer I am becoming less sure of myself as imposter syndrome runs riot in my mind. There has been a blow in the family too which has knocked me off kilter a wee bit, so much so that it is taking all my will power to not throw everything out and start again. I guess that the quals assessment is paid for, the hotel is booked and the train ticket too so there is no sense in blowing the whole thing off this late in the game - instead I will see what they say and have a chat about my ideas for my future (very near future) direction to prepare for the next time I get a chance.
I have this weird dichotomy to by honest. I don’t think I am good enough… yet I have spent so long being friends with, chatting to and comparing (and competing) against some of the best photographers in the world that I judge myself against them and know that I can produce images equal to theirs. On a good day. When I have time. When everything falls into place. So my next panel is going to be built on those grounds… I want it to stand up amongst the photography of those whom I have shared ideas with in the past… those whom are pretty much household names in the photography community… it’s time to go big (probably more relating to my other platform at Wayward Spirit Studio)
Anyway, enough rambling for now. Here is some of this weeks work.
