September is Go
Things have been slowly picking up this week, it’s been okay… not quite on target… but okay. Next week is starting to shape up to be a whole different scenario though!
I have mostly been in the Inverness/Black Isle area this week, with a day in the darkroom to boot. I am still just getting my head around using film again so haven’t been out taking anything I would consider “significant” with the medium yet. But I am getting there… at least with the 35mm stuff I am! Processing and working with 120 medium format film is fine, but the camera is taking a little more work yet! I have a few colour films away now for processing to see if I have anything on those, but am gearing up to really get stuck into it from now. Well. Kinda. I popped in a roll of Lomography Earl Grey because it is relatively cheap and I am not ready to blow through £5+ PER FRAME when I am only getting a handful of usable images! It is just a matter of remembering each step, making sure that I remove the dark slide mainly. And making sure that the film back doesn’t pop itself open destroying the film. There is a full discarded roll in my bin right now! Anyway, that is mostly of interest “over the way” at Wayward Spirit Studio rather than here which is the home of my commercial work!
Mostly.
I do have ambitions to working in architectural photography and that may lend itself to film as much as landscape. So it is still relevant here too!
So I have a Fuji GSW690 arriving to further ambitions in this direction, which is a bit of an odd beast. Plus the 617 that also shoots in 612. Now I just need to refine my technique! It’s all good fun though, and at least with processing black and white myself it keeps the costs down a lot (I am looking at getting a semi-automated film processor that will also enable me to develop my own colour film (both negative and transparency) which will further open possibilities to me! I may yet build my own darkroom too….
So - some of this weeks work then.
