Summer Gone
Although I tend to err to the solstice and equinox for the changes in seasons, I have to conceed that this year… it seems that the start of month camp may have a point. The weather has shifted towards a very autumnal pattern and with the heat bubble in the South Pacific building it looks like we are going to be in for a rough autumn and winter followed by a blistering summer in 2027. Although here in the Highlands we may miss the summer and enjoy another year of perma-autumn instead.
I shot a pair of houses this week, yesterday in fact, which… I think… represent some of the kinds of places that I really enjoy working on. One was an immaculate townhouse in Inverness - still full of period features, but modernised enough to be a comfortable contemporary home. The other… and this is the type of place that I really, really, love to shoot - was an historic old arts and crafts house in the hills above the Fairy Glen in Rosemarkie - more or less untouched by modernisation. Shooting these old houses feels like stepping back in time to a simpler world - the sense of history is etched into the walls! This was quite a grand house, but I am as happy in an old bothy as I am in an old manse. This is probably the archaeologist in me coming out!
