Busy Bee

It’s been three weeks since my last confession… I mean… post!

Anyway - I have had a nicely busy September, not manic as August was, but still good - and with a little space to breathe too, which was nice! I am not doing so well at creating web sized images of each job which I really, really need to get on with moving forward as my galleries probably need a bit of a refresh as well as being able to post current work up here!

I have applied for my licenciateship with The Society of Photographers specialising in Commercial Photography which will add a third wheel to my qualifications cycle! I fully intend to start progressing each of them up the ladder in 2027 too and will start shooting specifically for both the BIPP and European Photographers in the coming weeks to put a panel together sometime over the next 12 months. I have some quite lofty ambitions for that panel, which may well fall flat on it’s face… but if you don’t strive for something unique and unusual then what is the point in being an artist? For Societies I am going to stick to the commercial route for at least the next year and attempt to get my Associateship off the back of my interiors and architectural work, so I need to start curating a selection of photographs I take of interesting and challenging buildings! Most of my work isn’t in the glossy show properties that I see most others submit, mine are often a mixture of more modest or more quirky Highland homes - but I want to celebrate this as some of them are absolutely beautiful in my eyes… but then I am more drawn to a remote croft than an inner city appartment! But first I need to await the licenciateship which I probably won’t hear back about for another few weeks yet.

As for the panel that I submitted - all the photographs had been taken within the last month or so, mainly because I did a large archive job recently (another reason I need to start curating some of my more interesting work!). The immediate storeage space on my desktop PC is getting quite tight as I do more and more video work which wouldn’t normally be a problem, but the cost of both memory and storeage is going crazy so I need to keep ontop of things! Fortunately small external drives are not too badly priced yet so I can archive onto these, label them up and then swap them over!

Here are the photographs I submitted for this first pop at the award. It has been hard finding good weather this summer which made the selection all the more challenging!
