Aircraft Crash
Tuesday was a bit of a disaster. The smallest UAV that I had taken out (for convenience and because it was a pretty built up area) had a malfunction and went out of control - flying into a wall, a bin and then setting off to the skies completely impervious to direction prompts from the controls. I had no choice but to force a crash by stopping the rotors mid air and dropping the machine. After finishing the job (which involved driving back home to get the bigger machine) I set about repairing it. It seems to have mostly been a gyroscopic sensor issue, but then required a new set of blades too since 3 of the 8 were damaged (it would fly but was not as stable as it should have been, so better to be safe than sorry).
The house itself shot well though, so I am fairly happy with the results from the day.

Today has been equally challenging. My main lens (Nikon 14-30 f4S) has a telescopic form factor, unfortunately this means that it can suck in environmental dust when in dusty houses… and this has now reached a point that it is optically compromised. So that was dropped in for repairs today and I probably won’t have it back for 6 weeks or so! In the mean time I will have to work only with the Laowa 15mm f4.5 “Dreamer” shift lens, which is great - but isn’t the best with light flares due to the bulbous front element… so care will be needed. I may finally get the uprated 14-24 f2.8S though which has been on the “must do” list for quite some time… depends how the next few weeks go in terms of work coming in though!
Today’s shoot took me out to Kinlochewe though, and I do love getting out that way!
